May 3rd Week Part A

May 20 - Zoo Animals

After school, when I went to post to my blog, I discovered that none of the pictures of the day were on my phone. :(  I apologize today's blog will not be colorful.

We started our day by reading Zella Zack and Zodiac online (I could not find my copy). We talked about characters and personality. Then we created our own zebra from paper plates. We gave our zebra a "Z" name and a couple of characters.

For snack we made lion snack. I found the above image that we based our snack on when I googled "lion snack". We used graham crackers, Nutella, pretzel sticks, regular pretzels, and Craisins. Nutella was spread on top of one graham cracker square, then about 10 pretzel sticks were placed to look like lion's mane. Nutella was spread on the other graham cracker  and it was placed on top of the pretzel mane. The lion's face was created with Nutella as glue to hold the pretzel on as the lion's mouth, a Craisin for the eyes and nose.

For outside play the students took both goals and created a "cage" and 2 of the students were the animals and the third student played the zoo keeper.

After outside play, we came back in and did a round robin of activities. The students rotated between 4 literacy activities; animal lacing cards, ABC tracing book, making animal patterns, and a roll a zoo animal graph.
